Well, alright this isn't really a hack it's just for lazy people (me). Sitting around on a Saturday night I stumbled upon a link to the restricted trailer for "Hot Tub Time Machine". After navigating to the all flash website (ew), entering my name and birth date several times into their clunky user entry fields, I thought there has to be a better way. I noticed the site sets a cookie called "agegateResult" with a value of "pass". Well five minutes later and another bookmarklet to add to my collection I have my first hack-ish piece of code.

You can get the bookmarklet here: Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer. Drag that link into your bookmarks, click it, then click it again and that's it! Sit back and enjoy the red band trailer for "Hot Tub Time Machine" without any hassle.

document.cookie='agegateResult=pass;expires=Fri,' + year + 'UTC;path=/restricted/';

There are many reasons to love baseball. I happen to love almost everything about the game. Many people don’t like it because of it’s pace and speed, or the fact there isn’t game clock. Those and other reasons are why I love it so much. Here are just a few I can think of.

1. It’s the only game where the defense has the ball.

2. Before the pitcher releases the ball you can think about every possible play. The anticipation that goes along with that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

3. Young and old play the game. You can play it from the time you’re in diapers till the time…you’re in diapers.

4. When the baseball season starts it means spring is just around the corner. For people in cold weather states this is a welcome reminder.

5. The history. The modern era of baseball started in 1900, and in that time the game hasn’t changed much. How many things in life are so constant and reliable?

6.  Home plate has a little roof, it’s like a little house. Touching home plate and coming home after a rough day bring the same feelings: relief, accomplishment, and joy.

7. My best memories of childhood revolve around baseball. My sister and I would play baseball everyday in the summer. So many of our inside jokes were made on our yard, our diamond.

8. Watching baseball gives us the illusion we could be on the field playing with the pros, there seems to be so little separating us from them.

9. Baseball and programming have something very important in common, failure. The best players will succeed 30% of the time, and I’m certain my code fails more than 70% of the time. The ability to cope with failure is perhaps the most important skill someone can acquire, and baseball teaches us that skill.

If you love the band Pavement then you'll love this little page hosted here on WindowFruit.com! It was created by my brother-in-law and it lists all of the upcoming dates for Pavement's 2010 tour. It also has: pictures, videos, set lists, and more. Check it out here: Pavement 2010.

I'm seeing them in September when they play Central Park, I'm excited!

While playing kicking ass on “The Beatles: Rock Band” for the PS3, the pedal on the drum set broke in half. After doing some searching online it seems like a pretty common problem. I found a company called Pedal Metal that makes a reinforcement for the pedal, which you can find here on Amazon.com. Small Magnet

However, I still want to play Rock Band while the reinforcement is coming in the mail, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. After taking apart the old pedal I found a small but powerful magnet inside. The magnet is located on the end of pedal, and acts as a switch.

Tada!Using a pencil box, duct tape, and the magnet I fashioned a temporary drum pedal that should hold until the reinforcement comes.

Tada! It works, and although it looks trashy I'm pretty happy with the results. What I’m not happy with is the flimsy pedal that comes with Rock Band, but that’s a different post for a different day.

Due to Revision3 being kinda flakey here's the URL: Tekzilla Daily #429. You may have to download the non flash version to see it, sorry.

After watching the video I thought it's kind of silly to copy out the photo ID and paste it into a new url. So I whipped up this little bookmarklet: Flickr Photo ID. You can drag that link into your bookmark collection, or right click it and choose to bookmark it from there.

Using a regular expression it finds the photo ID and navigates the browser to the correct URL. However, you will have to point the browser to the picture's url. In other words, it won't work in the context of the website that is embedding the image. The script is posted below, now you can enjoy the magic of regular expressions! Laughing

var url = window.location.href;
var re =/.*\/(.*)_.*/;
var f=url.replace(re,"$1");
window.location.href = "http://flickr.com/photo.gne?id="+f;
